Manitoba Invites 1,304 Workers to Apply for Provincial Nomination in October 2026

Manitoba immigration draw October 2026

Manitoba has issued 1,304 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) in its latest provincial immigration selection round, held on October 22, 2026. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) selected candidates through three categories: applicants with post-secondary education in Manitoba, top-scoring candidates residing in the province, and workers invited through strategic recruitment initiatives.

The draw was the program’s 282nd Expression of Interest (EOI) selection round. Candidates who received an LAA have 60 days to submit a complete provincial nomination application.

An invitation is not a provincial nomination or a guarantee of Canadian permanent residence. Applicants must submit the required documents and meet the applicable program criteria.

The two categories under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway accounted for 1,247 invitations. The remaining 57 invitations went to candidates who had been directly invited through strategic recruitment initiatives. The province also reported that 353 of the 1,304 invited candidates had declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code. The scores in this draw are Manitoba’s EOI ranking scores, not the federal Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores used in Express Entry.

1. Manitoba graduates and their spouses receive 734 invitations

The largest selection category targeted candidates who reported that they or their spouse had completed post-secondary education in Manitoba. The MPNP issued 734 LAAs under this category, with a minimum EOI score of 816.

To qualify under this selection criterion, candidates needed to have declared the relevant Manitoba post-secondary education in their EOI profile. Those invited must be prepared to provide supporting evidence, including a diploma and transcript, when submitting their nomination application. Applicants should ensure that the information in their EOI profile accurately reflects their education history. If they cannot provide the required supporting documentation, they should carefully review the MPNP’s instructions before proceeding.

Graduating in Manitoba does not automatically guarantee an invitation. Candidates must still satisfy the relevant program requirements and any other conditions applicable to their circumstances.

2. Manitoba invites 513 top-scoring candidates

The second category issued 513 invitations to candidates with the highest-scoring eligible profiles residing in Manitoba. The lowest EOI score invited in this category was 846.

Unlike the education-based category, this selection focused on the highest-scoring profiles under the applicable Skilled Worker in Manitoba criteria. The MPNP did not publish a separate occupational breakdown for these 513 invitations. Candidates should therefore not assume that a particular occupation was specifically targeted in this category.

The results also demonstrate that Manitoba’s EOI score thresholds can differ between selection categories. The minimum score of 846 for top-scoring profiles was higher than the 816 cut-off for candidates selected based on Manitoba post-secondary education.

3. Manitoba issues 57 invitations through strategic recruitment

The MPNP issued another 57 LAAs to candidates who had declared that they were directly invited under an eligible strategic recruitment initiative or the relevant temporary public policy for prospective provincial nominee candidates. The reported breakdown included:

Strategic recruitment initiative

Invitations issued

Employer Services

21

Francophone Community

16

Regional Communities

15

Ethnocultural Communities

2

Temporary Public Policy for prospective PNP candidates

3

No minimum EOI score was published for this category. These invitations were not a general selection open to every candidate in the EOI pool. Applicants needed to meet the conditions associated with the applicable initiative or qualify under the relevant policy. Candidates should consult the MPNP’s official instructions to confirm whether they are eligible under a strategic recruitment pathway.

How does the October draw compare with the previous round?

Manitoba’s preceding selection round, held on October 8, 2026, issued 340 LAAs. That round included occupation-specific selections for workers in education, childcare, and healthcare, along with invitations through strategic recruitment initiatives. The October 22 draw issued 964 more invitations than the October 8 round.

1,304

Manitoba post-secondary study, top-scoring profiles, strategic recruitment

October 8, 2026

The two draws used different selection criteria. The October 22 round focused heavily on Manitoba-educated candidates and top-scoring profiles, while the October 8 round included occupation-specific selections. The change in invitation numbers does not guarantee that Manitoba will issue a similar number of invitations in a future round.

What is the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program?

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program allows the province to nominate eligible foreign nationals who have the skills, education, work experience, and other qualifications needed to contribute to Manitoba’s economy. The program includes pathways for skilled workers and international graduates, among other eligible applicants. Each pathway has its own eligibility requirements and selection process.

The Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway generally focuses on candidates with a qualifying connection to the province, including eligible employment or other circumstances defined by the program. The Skilled Worker Stream also includes candidates selected through eligible strategic recruitment initiatives.

Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an invitation. Manitoba can select candidates according to its labour-market needs, program priorities, and available nomination spaces.

What should invited candidates do next?

Candidates who received an LAA on October 22 should carefully review their invitation and prepare their application within the 60-day submission period.

1. Check the invitation category
Confirm whether the invitation was issued based on Manitoba post-secondary education, a top-scoring EOI profile, or a strategic recruitment initiative.

2. Verify the information in the EOI profile
Review personal details, education, employment history, language results, and other information to ensure it is accurate and consistent with supporting documents.

3. Prepare the required documentation
Depending on the selection category and individual circumstances, applicants may need to provide:

  • Identity and passport documents
  • Diplomas and academic transcripts
  • Employment reference letters and work experience evidence
  • Language test results, where required
  • Evidence of eligibility under the relevant recruitment initiative
  • Other documents requested by the MPNP

Candidates selected through the Manitoba education category should be prepared to provide evidence of the relevant post-secondary studies.

4. Submit the complete application within 60 days
The invitation gives the candidate an opportunity to apply for provincial nomination. It does not itself confer nomination status. Applicants should follow the instructions in their invitation, pay the applicable fees, and submit the required documents before the deadline.

5. Wait for the provincial decision
Manitoba assesses the complete nomination application before deciding whether to nominate the candidate. Approval is not automatic, even if an applicant received an invitation.

Can invited candidates obtain a work permit support letter?

Candidates who receive a provincial nomination may be able to request a work permit support letter from Manitoba, subject to the applicable provincial rules. The letter may support an application to the federal government for a work permit. It does not itself issue or extend a work permit; the federal government determines whether the applicant qualifies.

Some provincial nominees may also qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit after submitting an eligible permanent residence application. Eligibility depends on federal requirements, the type and stage of the application, and the candidate’s immigration status. Candidates who have not received an invitation should not assume that remaining in Manitoba’s EOI pool automatically provides work authorization. Any temporary public policy or work permit measure has its own conditions and deadlines.

What does the latest draw mean for prospective immigrants?

Manitoba’s October 22 selection round shows that the province continues to consider candidates with Manitoba post-secondary education, strong EOI profiles, and eligibility under strategic recruitment initiatives. The largest group consisted of candidates who reported that they or their spouse had completed post-secondary studies in Manitoba. Another substantial group was selected from top-scoring profiles residing in the province.

However, the results do not establish a guaranteed score or a predictable invitation schedule for future rounds. Manitoba may change its selection categories and priorities according to program needs and available spaces. Prospective applicants should review the relevant MPNP pathway, keep their profiles accurate, and monitor official provincial announcements.
