Canada Invites 5,000 French-Speaking Express Entry Candidates
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) carried out another Express Entry draw, offering 5,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to eligible applicants with French-language skills.
Canada held its category-based Express Entry selection round on August 6, 2026, with the invitation round. Candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 391, which was one of the lowest CRS cut-offs for a French-language proficiency draw in 2026.

Candidates with a CRS score of 391 and above were issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) as long as they submitted their Express Entry profile before the tie-breaking date and time, in the event that there was more than one candidate with the same minimum score.
What is the French Language Proficiency Level?
One of the category-based selection pathways introduced via Canada’s Express Entry system is the ability to speak French.
IRCC conducts targeted draws to invite candidates who meet certain economic priorities rather than inviting candidates based on their overall CRS score alone.
