Latest Express Entry Draw
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has held another Express Entry draw for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates, issuing 511 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence.
The draw, held on July 20, 2026, targeted candidates who had already received a provincial nomination through one of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs. A provincial nomination remains one of the strongest pathways to permanent residence, providing candidates with an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, significantly increasing their chances of receiving an invitation through Express Entry.

Tie-breaking Rule |
March 9, 2026, at 18:47:38 UTC |
To receive an invitation, candidates were required to have an active Express Entry profile, a valid provincial nomination, and a CRS score of at least 739. The tie-breaking rule applied only to candidates with the minimum CRS score.
Why Is the CRS Score So High?
Many prospective immigrants are surprised by the high CRS score required in Provincial Nominee Program draws. However, candidates who receive a provincial nomination automatically receive 600 additional CRS points. For example:
- A candidate with a base CRS score of 139 would have a total CRS score of 739 after receiving a provincial nomination.
- A candidate with a base score of 150 would have a total CRS score of 750.
Because of these additional points, PNP-specific draws consistently have much higher CRS cut-off scores than Canadian Experience Class or category-based Express Entry draws.
What Is the Provincial Nominee Program?
Most provinces operate multiple immigration streams targeting candidates such as:
- Skilled workers
- Healthcare professionals
- Trades workers
- International graduates
- Entrepreneurs
- Rural and regional workers
Candidates who obtain a provincial nomination through an Express Entry-aligned stream become eligible for the additional 600 CRS points, greatly improving their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.
Express Entry Draws Continue Throughout 2026
IRCC has continued holding regular Express Entry draws throughout 2026, inviting candidates under various categories, including:
- Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- French-language proficiency
- Healthcare and social services occupations
- Senior managers with Canadian work experience
- Other category-based selections aligned with Canada’s labour market priorities
This latest PNP draw demonstrates the federal government’s continued commitment to working with provinces to address workforce shortages across the country.
What This Means for Immigration Applicants
Applicants may strengthen their immigration prospects by:
- Creating and maintaining an active Express Entry profile.
- Applying to eligible Provincial Nominee Program streams.
- Improving language test results.
- Increasing skilled work experience.
- Obtaining additional educational credentials.
- Securing a qualifying Canadian job offer where applicable.
Since provinces regularly adjust their immigration priorities based on labour market needs, candidates should monitor provincial programs and keep their profiles up to date.
How the Express Entry Process Works
The Express Entry system manages applications for several of Canada’s economic immigration programs.
The general process includes:
-
- Create an Express Entry profile.
- Receive a CRS score based on factors such as age, education, language ability, and work experience.
- Obtain a provincial nomination if eligible, adding 600 CRS points.
- Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) during an Express Entry draw.
- Submit a complete permanent residence application to IRCC.
- Undergo medical, criminality, and security checks before a final decision is made.
