Prince Edward Island Invites 254 Workers for Provincial Immigration in October 2026

Prince Edward Island immigration draw October 2026

Prince Edward Island (PEI) has issued 254 invitations to apply for provincial nomination through two immigration selection rounds held on October 7 and October 16, 2026. The selections were conducted through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP), with invitations issued to candidates under the Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry pathways.

The province focused on workers in occupations and priority sectors considered important to its economy. International graduates of selected post-secondary institutions in Prince Edward Island also received priority consideration.

Candidates who received an invitation have 30 days to submit their provincial nomination application. An invitation does not guarantee nomination or permanent residence.

Both rounds issued invitations through the Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry pathways. The province did not publish a separate breakdown showing how many invitations went to each pathway. It also did not disclose a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, a minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score, or a detailed list of occupations held by the invited candidates. According to the province’s published results, PEI had conducted 11 provincial immigration selection rounds in 2026 by October 16, issuing a cumulative 1,483 invitations.

Which candidates received priority consideration?

Prince Edward Island has been selecting candidates based on provincial labour-market needs and the potential economic contribution of their skills and experience. Priority consideration was given to international graduates from three post-secondary institutions in the province:

  • University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
  • Holland College
  • Collège de l’Île

The province’s published immigration information identifies several sectors as priorities for skilled-worker selection:

  • Healthcare
  • Skilled trades
  • Manufacturing
  • Other key industries experiencing labour shortages

These are general provincial priorities, not a confirmed list of occupations invited in the October draws. PEI has not published enough draw-specific information to establish which individual occupations or candidate profiles received invitations. Candidates should therefore review the current program requirements rather than assume that employment in a particular sector will automatically lead to an invitation.

Which PEI PNP pathways were involved?

The October invitations were issued through two pathways.

  1. Labour Impact Category

The Labour Impact Category includes the following streams:

  • Skilled Worker
  • Critical Worker
  • International Graduate

These pathways are intended for eligible workers and graduates who meet the applicable provincial program requirements.

Having a job offer, relevant work experience, education, and other qualifying factors may be important depending on the stream. Candidates must verify the requirements of the specific pathway before applying.

  1. PEI Express Entry

The PEI Express Entry pathway is connected to Canada’s federal Express Entry system. Candidates generally need an eligible Express Entry profile and must satisfy the relevant PEI selection requirements. Provincial nomination and federal permanent residence are separate stages of the immigration process. For eligible candidates who receive a nomination through an enhanced provincial nomination pathway, the nomination can provide additional CRS points in Express Entry. A nomination does not, by itself, grant permanent residence; candidates must still meet the applicable federal requirements and complete the required steps.

What should invited candidates do next?

Candidates who received an invitation should carefully follow the instructions in their invitation and prepare their application within the stated deadline. Recommended next steps include:

  1. Review the invitation. Confirm the pathway, submission deadline, and documents requested by the PEI Office of Immigration.
  2. Check eligibility. Ensure that the information in the Expression of Interest profile is accurate and that the candidate meets the requirements of the relevant stream.
  3. Prepare supporting documents. Gather identity documents, education records, employment evidence, language results, and other materials required for the application.
  4. Submit within 30 days. Follow the instructions provided by the province. Missing the deadline may result in the invitation expiring.
  5. Wait for the provincial decision. Receiving an invitation is not the same as receiving a provincial nomination.
  6. Proceed to federal permanent residence if nominated. A successful nominee must then follow the applicable federal process and satisfy Canada’s permanent residence requirements.
Could provincial nominees qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit?

Some candidates already living and working in Canada may be eligible for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) after submitting a permanent residence application. A temporary federal measure that took effect on June 9, 2026, allows certain eligible in-Canada applicants under base Provincial Nominee Program pathways to apply for a BOWP without first receiving an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) for their permanent residence application.

This measure does not apply automatically to every provincial nominee. Applicants must check the current federal eligibility conditions, including the requirements that apply to their nomination pathway and immigration status. Candidates should not assume that receiving a PEI invitation alone makes them eligible for a bridging work permit.

When is the next PEI immigration draw?

According to Prince Edward Island’s published anticipated invitation schedule, the remaining planned selection dates for 2026 are:

Anticipated draw date

Status

November 19, 2026

Upcoming

December 17, 2026

Upcoming

These dates are tentative. The province may change its schedule, and the number of invitations issued in future rounds may depend on provincial labour-market needs, federal immigration allocations, application volumes, and program priorities. Submitting an Expression of Interest does not guarantee an invitation. Candidates should keep their profiles accurate and monitor official PEI immigration announcements for changes.

What does the October draw mean for prospective immigrants?

The October selections show that Prince Edward Island continues to invite candidates through its Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry pathways, with attention to the province’s economic and workforce priorities. Workers in healthcare, trades, manufacturing, and other sectors facing labour shortages may wish to review the provincial program requirements. International graduates of UPEI, Holland College, and Collège de l’Île should also check whether their circumstances align with PEI’s selection priorities.

However, the province has not published a specific occupational breakdown or score threshold for these two October draws. Prospective applicants should not interpret the invitation totals as a guarantee that candidates with particular jobs, qualifications, or scores will be selected in a future round.
