Saskatchewan Speeds Up Processing of Provincial Nominee Applications

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has significantly improved

its application processing times, with most provincial nomination applications now being finalized within two weeks, according to the province’s latest quarterly processing statistics.

The updated figures cover the period April 1 to June 30, 2026 (Q2 2026) and indicate that processing times improved across most SINP categories compared with the previous quarter. The statistics were published by the Government of Saskatchewan on July 14, 2026.

Faster Processing Across Most SINP Categories
The latest SINP data shows notable improvements in processing times for several immigration streams.

Many applications submitted through the Saskatchewan Experience and International Skilled Worker categories were processed in two weeks or less, providing faster decisions for eligible candidates seeking provincial nomination. The province noted that these processing times are based on finalized applications during the second quarter of 2026 and may vary depending on application volume and completeness.

How SINP Processing Times Are Calculated

The Saskatchewan government updates SINP processing statistics every three months.
The published processing times represent the amount of time required to finalize 80% of completed applications, measured from the date a complete application is received until a final decision is made. The fastest and slowest 10% of applications are excluded to provide a more accurate average.

Applications are considered finalized when they are:

  • Approved and nominated
  • Returned to the applicant
  • Declared ineligible.
Saskatchewan's Processing Goal

The Government of Saskatchewan continues to aim to process most applications efficiently.
Its stated objective is to finalize International Skilled Worker and Saskatchewan Experience applications within 16 weeks, provided that:

  • The application is complete.
  • All required supporting documents have been submitted.
  • No additional information is required from the applicant.

The latest quarterly results indicate that many applicants are currently receiving decisions well ahead of this target.

What This Means for Immigration Applicants

Faster processing provides several benefits for prospective immigrants, including:

  • Quicker provincial nomination decisions.
  • Faster eligibility to apply for Canadian permanent residence through IRCC.
  • Reduced waiting periods for applicants and employers.
  • Greater certainty when planning relocation to Saskatchewan.

Applicants should remember that receiving a provincial nomination does not automatically grant permanent residence. After nomination, candidates must still submit a permanent residence application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for final assessment.

Saskatchewan's Provincial Immigration Program

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program allows the province to nominate qualified foreign nationals who have the skills, education, and work experience needed to address Saskatchewan’s labour market needs.

The program includes several pathways, including:

  • International Skilled Worker
  • Saskatchewan Experience
  • Entrepreneur and Farm
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur

Provincial nominations issued through SINP may support an applicant’s pathway to Canadian permanent residence, subject to meeting all federal immigration requirements.

Important Reminder for Applicants

Although processing times have improved, Saskatchewan emphasizes that the published figures:

  • Reflect historical processing times only.
  • Are updated quarterly.
  • May change depending on application volumes and available nomination spaces.
  • Should not be interpreted as guaranteed processing times for future applications.

Applicants are encouraged to submit complete and accurate applications to help avoid unnecessary delays.
