Saskatchewan Uses More Than Half of Its 2026 Provincial Immigration Allocation

Saskatchewan Reaches a Major Milestone in Its 2026 Immigration Program

The Government of Saskatchewan has announced that it has already used more than half of its 2026 provincial immigration allocation through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). According to the latest provincial update, Saskatchewan has issued 2,628 provincial nominations, representing approximately 55% of its total 2026 allocation of 4,761 nominations.

The update highlights the province’s continued focus on attracting skilled workers to address labour market needs while carefully managing its annual nomination allocation.

What Is the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)?

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is Saskatchewan’s provincial immigration program that allows the province to nominate qualified foreign nationals for Canadian permanent residence.

The program is designed to help employers address labour shortages by selecting candidates with the skills, education, and work experience needed to support Saskatchewan’s economy. Successful applicants who receive a provincial nomination may become eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residence through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Saskatchewan's 2026 Nomination Allocation
For 2026, Saskatchewan received an allocation of 4,761 provincial nominations from the federal government.

As of June 30, 2026, the province had already issued 2,628 nominations, representing approximately 55% of its annual allocation. The provincial government updates these figures on a quarterly basis to provide transparency regarding nomination usage throughout the year.

Priority Sectors Continue to Receive Focus

Saskatchewan continues to prioritize nominations for sectors experiencing ongoing labour shortages.

Priority sectors include:

  • Healthcare
  • Agriculture
  • Skilled Trades
  • Mining
  • Manufacturing
  • Energy
  • Technology

The province has also placed limits on nominations in certain sectors, including accommodation and food services, retail trade, and trucking, to help balance labour market needs across the provincial economy.

What Does This Mean for Prospective Applicants?

The fact that Saskatchewan has already used more than half of its annual nomination allocation does not necessarily mean that immigration opportunities have ended for 2026.

The SINP continues to manage its remaining nomination spaces throughout the year based on:

  • Provincial labour market priorities.
  • Employer demand.
  • Occupation shortages.
  • Available federal nomination allocations.
  • Program eligibility requirements.

Candidates who meet the requirements of eligible SINP pathways may still have opportunities to receive a provincial nomination while allocation spaces remain available.

Should You Apply Now?

If Saskatchewan is part of your Canadian immigration plan, submitting a complete and eligible application as early as possible may improve your chances of being considered while nomination spaces remain available.

Applicants should ensure they:

  • Meet the eligibility requirements of the selected SINP pathway.
  • Prepare complete supporting documentation.
  • Maintain valid language test results where required.
  • Monitor official SINP announcements for future program updates.
  • Stay informed about changes to provincial immigration policies.
Why Saskatchewan Remains a Popular Destination

Saskatchewan continues to attract newcomers because of its growing economy, employment opportunities, affordable cost of living, and demand for skilled workers across multiple industries. Many immigrants choose Saskatchewan for its welcoming communities, strong labour market, and pathways to permanent residence through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program.
