Alberta Invites at Least 380 Workers Through Provincial Immigration Draws in September 2026

Alberta immigration draws September 2026
Alberta issued at least 380 invitations to apply for provincial nomination through six immigration selection rounds held between September 10 and September 23, 2026. The selections targeted workers in healthcare, technology, manufacturing, agriculture and law enforcement, alongside candidates selected through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
The invitations were issued through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), which allows eligible candidates to seek provincial nomination and potentially obtain Canadian permanent residence.

These September selection rounds highlight Alberta’s focus on attracting workers who can contribute to the province’s labour market needs. However, receiving an invitation does not guarantee provincial nomination or permanent residence. Candidates must meet the applicable program requirements and complete the required application process.

Alberta Immigration Draws: September 2026 Results
Between September 10 and September 23, Alberta conducted six selection rounds across its provincial immigration pathways.

The five rounds with published invitation totals accounted for 379 invitations. With fewer than 10 additional invitations issued through the Law Enforcement Pathway, the combined total was at least 380.

Which Occupations and Sectors Did Alberta Prioritise?

The September selection rounds covered several areas of Alberta’s economy. The results may be relevant to candidates with experience in these sectors, although eligibility depends on the specific pathway and its requirements.

1. Healthcare professionals
On September 18, Alberta issued 100 invitations through the Alberta Express Entry Stream’s healthcare priority sector selection.

The minimum reported score was 62.

Healthcare professionals should review the applicable pathway requirements, including occupational eligibility, work experience, professional registration where applicable, and other conditions. Working in healthcare alone does not guarantee eligibility or selection.
2. Technology professionals
The September 22 selection round issued 100 invitations through the Accelerated Tech Pathway, with a minimum score of 59.

Eligible technology professionals may wish to assess whether their occupation and employment circumstances meet the pathway requirements. Candidates should verify the applicable occupational list and other criteria before proceeding.

3. Manufacturing workers

Alberta issued 48 invitations through the manufacturing priority sector selection on September 10. The minimum reported score was 60.

Candidates working in manufacturing should assess their occupations and experience against the applicable requirements rather than assuming that employment in the sector alone establishes eligibility.

4. Agriculture workers
The September 15 agriculture selection round resulted in 18 invitations, with a minimum score of 60.

Workers in eligible agricultural occupations may wish to investigate Alberta’s provincial immigration options and determine whether their professional background aligns with the province’s selection priorities.

5. Law enforcement professionals
The September 21 selection round targeted candidates through the Law Enforcement Pathway. Alberta issued fewer than 10 invitations, with a minimum score of 49.

This was a highly targeted selection round. Interested candidates should review the pathway’s specific eligibility conditions before determining whether it is suitable for them.

6. Workers eligible under the Alberta Opportunity Stream
On September 23, the Alberta Opportunity Stream issued 113 invitations, with a minimum score of 58.

This stream has specific eligibility conditions. In general, candidates must be living and working in Alberta and meet the applicable employment and other program requirements. It should not be assumed to be a direct pathway for applicants who are living abroad without the required Alberta employment circumstances. Candidates should consult the official requirements to determine whether they qualify.

How Does Alberta Provincial Nomination Lead to Permanent Residence?
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program is part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program framework. Alberta can nominate eligible candidates who meet the requirements of an applicable immigration pathway and support provincial economic and labour market priorities.

The general process for worker pathways involves several stages:

Step 1: Review eligibility. Determine whether you meet the requirements of an applicable Alberta immigration stream or pathway.

Step 2: Submit a Worker Expression of Interest (WEOI), where applicable. Eligible candidates enter the relevant selection pool and provide information used to assess their profiles. Meeting the requirements to enter the pool does not guarantee an invitation.

Step 3: Receive an invitation, if selected. Alberta selects candidates based on applicable program criteria, provincial priorities and other relevant factors.

Step 4: Submit a provincial nomination application. Invited candidates must follow the application instructions, provide supporting documents and satisfy the submission requirements.

Step 5: Obtain a provincial nomination, if approved. An invitation is not the same as a nomination. Alberta must assess and approve the application.

Step 6: Apply for Canadian permanent residence. Candidates who receive a nomination may proceed with the appropriate federal permanent residence application, subject to the applicable requirements and procedures.

The process differs by pathway. Candidates should check the official Alberta and federal immigration websites for the rules that apply to their circumstances.

Does a Lower Alberta Immigration Score Guarantee an Invitation?

No. A minimum score reported for a particular selection round should not be treated as a guaranteed invitation threshold for future draws. Alberta considers more than a score when selecting candidates. Factors may include the pathway, occupational priorities, employment circumstances, labour market needs and other information provided in a candidate’s expression of interest.

A candidate who meets or exceeds a score reported in an earlier round may not receive an invitation in a future selection. Selection criteria and invitation volumes can change as provincial priorities evolve. Candidates should evaluate their overall eligibility rather than relying solely on historical draw results.

What Should Prospective Applicants Do Next?

Individuals interested in immigrating to Alberta can take the following steps:

  • Review their occupation: Identify the relevant occupational classification and determine whether their work experience aligns with an eligible pathway.
  • Check program requirements: Review the official eligibility criteria for the Alberta stream or pathway under consideration.
  • Assess language proficiency: Determine whether they meet applicable language requirements and whether additional testing may strengthen their profile.
  • Prepare supporting documents: Organise education records, employment references, identity documents and other evidence required for the relevant pathway.
  • Review other immigration options: Compare Alberta’s provincial pathways with other Canadian immigration programs for which they may qualify.
  • Monitor official updates: Check Alberta’s published draw results and program announcements, as selection priorities and invitation volumes can change.

Candidates outside Canada should pay particular attention to pathway-specific eligibility conditions. Some Alberta pathways require qualifying employment, residence in Alberta or other connections to the province. Not every pathway is available to applicants living abroad.

Can You Immigrate to Canada Through Alberta in 2026?
Alberta’s September 2026 selection rounds demonstrate the province’s use of targeted immigration pathways to select workers in specific sectors.
Healthcare professionals, technology workers, manufacturing employees, agricultural workers and eligible law enforcement professionals may find these developments relevant to their immigration planning. Other candidates should also investigate whether their occupations and circumstances match different provincial or federal pathways.
These September results are historical selection data, not a prediction of future invitations. Alberta’s draws are not necessarily conducted on a fixed schedule, and meeting basic eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection.

The most appropriate immigration route depends on an individual’s occupation, work experience, education, language proficiency, employment circumstances and other applicable factors.
