Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)
Alberta has remained true to its targeted immigration approach, inviting skilled workers in agriculture and construction to apply for provincial nomination through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).
The province held two Alberta Express Entry Stream draws between July 16 and July 21, 2026, and invited a total of 82 candidates working in two of Alberta’s priority industries. The rounds of invitations reflect Alberta’s ongoing commitment to addressing labour shortages in sectors vital to the province’s economic growth.

The July 21 construction draw attracted the most candidates while the July 16 draw was for people with experience in Alberta’s agriculture industry.
Alberta Immigration Continues to Focus on Sectors
The invitations were issued thru the Alberta Express Entry Stream, one of the pathways under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program. Alberta conducts regular targeted invitation rounds for occupations with ongoing labor shortages rather than general draws. The province has identified some priority sectors, including:
- Health care
- Technology
- Construction
- Manufacturing
- Aviation
- Agriculture
- Rural Renewal communities
This targeted strategy enables Alberta to choose candidates whose skills match more closely with the requirements of the provincial labour market.
Alberta Express Entry Stream Overview
Alberta can select eligible candidates directly from the federal Express Entry pool. Candidates must have to be considered:
- An Express Entry profile that is valid.
- Eligibility for one of the federal Express Entry programs
- Interest in Alberta as a destination for immigration.
- Experience in support of Alberta’s economic and labor market priorities.
A provincial nomination from Alberta adds 600 points to a candidate’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score on their Express Entry profile, vastly increasing the odds of getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in a future federal Express Entry draw.

What Happens When You Get Invited?
Candidates who get an invite from Alberta can move forward by:
- Submission of a complete application to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program.
- Being nominated provincially if approved.
- Updating their Express Entry profile to acknowledge the nomination.
- Getting an additional 600 CRS points.
- You get a federal Invitation to Apply and then you apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The ultimate decision on permanent residence rests with the Government of Canada.
